Care of the new born foal is critical
Within the first 6 hours of life it is critical that:
- the mare has passed the foetal membranes (Cleansed)
- the foal has sucked
- the foal has passed the muconeum (The first motion /faeces)
If there is any doubt about the foal it is vital you contact us as soon as possible.
This is essential in the prevention of joint ills, pneumonia and septicaemia – to name but a few .
